Opposition protests continue in Bahrain

epa03512732 Bahraini plain clothed police arrest an elderly man whom they suspected of protesting in the old market place in the Bahraini capital Manama 17 December 2012. Bahraini authorities on 17 December arrested several opposition supporters who gathered in the capital Manama to mark the unofficial Martyrs Day. No exact figures were released about those arrested, but activists reported at least six arrests and several injuries, including one as result of birdshot gun fire. Clashes broke-out between police and protesters as protesters staged several flash rallies inside the old part of the capital despite heavy police presence and road-blocks, answering the protest call by the Feb14 Coalition Movement, which is an umbrella group for the groups that called for the pro-reform protests on 14 February 2011.
